The Executive Board
The USCF's Executive Board consists of seven elected members. The Board elects
from its own membership the USCF President, Vice-President, Vice-President of
Finance, Secretary and two Member-at-Large.

Elected to the USCF Executive Board August 2005. Bill received his Bachelor of Arts from
NY University in 1963. He played in his first chess tournament in 1961. Between 1964-1967
Bill worked in the USCF office located then in Manhattan, as Ratings Statistician. Bill
worked again in the USCF in 2004 as a volunteer in the position of Executive Director.
Bill has and continues to dedicate his life to promoting chess. For more information on

Vice President: Don Schultz

Don served on the USCF Executive Board as President between 1996-1999. In various
positions, for the last 25 years, Don has represented the USCF to FIDE, the World
Chess Organization. Schultz was voted back on the Executive Board by USCF members
as a result of the 2003 election. From 1982-1990 he served on FIDE's Executive Council. Don also
authored two books, "CHESSDON", published in 1999 and recently published, "Fishcer, Spassky

Channing has an impressive resume which includes, Channing and Channing, Architects
and Engineers between 1963-1971; Channing Corporation, President 1971-1991, Chairman of the
Board 1991 to present. Also on the Board of Director for US Chess Trust, Mensa, Miami Beach
Planning Commission (1970-1973), State of Florida Condominium Advisory Board (1979-1983),
Community Associations Institute, National Speakers Bureau (1980-1984), Florida Home
Builders Association Legislative Committee (1979-1982), North Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce 1988-1990.
Best in America Living Award Judge, 1993. Up until 2000 Channing also served on the
City of Palm Beach Gardens Planning and Zoning Committee as well as in 1999 was on the
Florida Advisory Council to the Commission on Human Relations.
Regarding chess, Joel does love chess and what it does for children.

In 2003, Beatriz was elected to the USCF Executive Board and became the first women ever to
hold the position of President of the USCF Executive Board.
Started playing chess at the age of 13. Became National Women's Champion of Chile and in 1985
was awarded the Women's International Master title. Currently a WIM (Women's International
Master) and has played in many US Women's Championships and Interzonals. Beatriz worked
in the USCF office as Scholastic Director in 1997. In 2000, Beatriz returned to one her
passions, teaching chess to children. Among her many accomplishments, Marinello also holds
a degree in Accounting.

Elected in 2006, Randy is an active player and former master. He's been a National Tournament Director since 1985,
having directed several national championships (including the US Open, US Championship, and National High School), and
an International Arbiter since 1989. He served as technical director in the USCF office, 1983-86, on the Executive
Board previously (1990-93), and has chaired several USCF committees. He is also an organizer, Southern California
Federation board member, president of his local club, has taught chess in the public schools, has published dozens
of articles in Chess Life, and serves as secretary/treasurer of the Chess Journalists of America.
Randy is a Vietnam veteran. With a BA from UC Berkeley and an MA from UC Riverside, he was a government affairs
representative for the City of Los Angeles before retiring in 2005. He is also president of his homeowners association.

Born in 1944 in Richmond, Virginia. I have been a USCF member since 1956. Most of
my qualifications are outside of chess. I have written five books, have argued
orally before the US Supreme Court and have been the principal of a Wall Street
securities firm. I have written hundreds of published magazine and newspaper
articles about chess.
